Celebrating Jubilee: The Casual Queen

While the Queen spends a lot of time in a tiara, it's not all glitz and glamour. She is a country girl at heart, and much of what she loves to do is tied to country life. So what does she do for fun? Here are a few things.

Those corgis are notorious. I believe they've bitten the odd footman and visitor.

Have you seen the Diamond Queen yet? It's a 3 part series on CBC which you can watch online for a limited time (and that time's expiring). It's well worth watching. Check out http://www.cbc.ca/passionateeye/episodes.html

Yes- it was actually broadcast on CBC Newsworld the weeks after my thesis was done. It was great.

The BBC also did 3 documentaries on the Queen's official residence (Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse) that I strongly recommend. The first one is here

Three years ago, the Daily Mail ran an article about the Queen giving up breeding the dogs anymore. At that time, her pack of 9 had naturally decreased to 7, and she was going to let the pack slowly decrease. I have no idea how many are left.
