While today should be Jazz Monday in the final week of our 36 Musical Days of Christmas, we're switching with Wednesday. Why? Because on this first day after Christmas, I really wanted to play Part I of the Bach Christmas Oratorio. The performance here is by the Monteverdi Choir, perhaps the best professional choir in the world today and one I wanted to highlight here in my line up of favourite choirs. Perfection.
Looking back over our 36 Days of Christmas Music, it seems odd not to have featured at least one excerpt from Handel's Messiah. Here is the very fine Cantillation Choir with the wonderful, For Unto Us A Child Is Born.
